By placing an order at HearthDepot (https://hearthdepot.com/) you declare that you have read and accept this Shipping & Delivery Policy.

Order Confirmation

As soon as you place your order, you will receive a confirmation email. After that, we will process your order within 1–2 business days, during which time we will verify that all items ordered are in stock and available for immediate shipment. If your order is available for delivery within the advertised time frame, we will submit it to the warehouse for shipment. If the expected delivery time exceeds the advertised time frame, we will reach out to you via email and/or phone to confirm the order.

Shipping Costs

  • Free standard shipping on orders over $200 (contiguous US).
  • Orders of $199.99 or less: a flat $49 shipping & handling fee (contiguous US).
  • Alaska, Hawaii & Puerto Rico: a flat $500 non-contiguous delivery fee per order, with delivery typically taking 5–20 business days. Contact us before ordering if you would like to confirm the delivery time for your specific address.

Estimated Time of Shipping

Our standard shipping-out time for in-stock orders is 4–12 business days, and most orders ship within approximately 3–6 business days of placing the order. Made-to-order and built-to-order products (including many Empire Comfort Systems fireplaces manufactured to your configuration) typically ship within 4–12 weeks; the estimated lead time is indicated on the product page. If the expected shipping date for your order would fall outside the advertised time frame, our customer service team will reach out to confirm that the date works for you.

Order Shipment

Within 1–2 business days from the time your item has shipped, you will receive an email confirmation with tracking information. If you have not received tracking information within 6 business days of your order, follow up with us at support@hearthdepot.com.

For LTL freight shipments, Free Shipping means Standard Curbside Delivery. Liftgate service is included on most freight shipments of large fireplaces and heaters.

Curbside delivery is defined as delivery of the freight as close to the actual delivery address as possible. Please remember that the size of the tractor trailer and certain safety precautions may prevent the freight carrier from delivering the freight at the actual curb or delivery address. For addresses located on a cul-de-sac, dead-end street, or dirt road, curbside delivery is not guaranteed; the customer may need to meet the driver at the nearest intersection or paved street that the delivery truck can access.

In special cases, when the customer's address is in a high-cost delivery area (e.g., remote areas or the center of a large city), an additional delivery fee may be required. To confirm the availability of the Free Shipping – Standard Curbside Delivery option for your address, please contact the HearthDepot team before placing your order.

If your order has been shipped within our standard time frame (or by a deadline agreed with you) and delivery is delayed due to the customer's fault, and the carrier requests storage fees for holding the shipment, or a redelivery attempt fee after a failed delivery attempt caused by the customer, HearthDepot may require the customer to cover these storage/redelivery fees for delivery to continue.

Customer Responsibility for Shipping Address Accuracy

It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the shipping address entered at checkout is complete and accurate. We fulfill orders strictly based on the information provided during the purchase process.

Liability Waiver: We are not responsible for orders that are lost, delayed, or delivered to an incorrect destination due to an error in the shipping address provided by the customer, and we are not liable to provide refunds or complimentary replacements for items successfully delivered to an incorrect address originally provided by the customer at checkout.

Address Corrections: Address modifications can only be requested before the order has been processed or shipped. Once a tracking number is generated or the package is in transit, changes may not be possible, and carrier address-change fees may apply.

Returned Packages: If a package is returned to our warehouse due to an incorrect or incomplete address, the customer will be responsible for the cost of re-shipping the order to the corrected address.

Areas Covered

All estimated delivery dates and shipping costs advertised on the website apply to the contiguous (lower 48) United States. We also ship to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico for the flat non-contiguous delivery fee shown at checkout (see Shipping Costs above); delivery to these areas typically takes 5–20 business days. We do not ship directly to Canada, but we can ship your order to a US freight forwarder of your choice.

Damages (items shipped via LTL freight)

It is very important that you inspect the packaging of your items when they arrive and check that you received all boxes listed on the delivery receipt.

If you notice any damage or a shortage of packages, you must note it on the bill of lading, take pictures, and refuse delivery of the damaged pieces. Your note should say "refused due to damage." You must also take photos of all sides of the box and send them to us within 24 hours. If no damage is visible before opening the box, note "subject to further inspection, may contain concealed damage" on the delivery receipt — do not sign "free and clear."

Before unpacking the item, take photos of the packaging from all sides even if there are no visible signs of damage — this is essential if concealed damage is discovered and a claim must be filed with the carrier or manufacturer. If you notice concealed damage after delivery, do not discard the packaging, and contact us with photos within 24 hours of delivery.

If you notice minor/cosmetic damage (e.g., a small scratch or dent) and would like to accept the item in this condition "as is," add a detailed description of the damage on the bill of lading before signing, and send us photos within 24 hours. We can then usually offer free touch-up options (where available) and/or a partial refund for the inconvenience; the granting and amount of a partial refund are not guaranteed, and an item accepted "as is" cannot subsequently be returned as damaged.

Important: accepting a visibly damaged shipment without any notation on the bill of lading severely limits our ability to file a carrier claim and may make a replacement or refund impossible. Always note damage before signing.

After we receive your report of refused delivery or concealed damage, we immediately initiate a claim with the shipping company or the manufacturer. Once the claim is processed, replacements ship at no cost to you.

Do not install the unit or connect it to gas or power until you have fully inspected it and confirmed it is free of damage. Once an appliance has been installed or operated, it can no longer be returned, and transit-damage claims become significantly harder to process.

Damages (items shipped as a parcel via FedEx / UPS / USPS)

Check the packaging upon receipt. If you notice any damage, photograph all sides of the box and send the photos to us within 24 hours. Before unpacking, photograph the packaging from all sides even if there is no visible damage. If the product inside is damaged, do not discard the original packaging — it will be needed for the claim procedure and any replacement shipment.

At Hearth Depot, we’re committed to giving you the best deal online — guaranteed. If you find a lower price on an identical item, we’ll not only match it, but we’ll also beat it by 10% of the difference.

How It Works

1️⃣ Found a Lower Price?
If you discover a better price on the same item from another retailer (including shipping), just let us know.

2️⃣ We’ll Match or Beat It!
We’ll verify the competitor’s price and adjust your total to match it and reduce it by an additional 10% of the difference.

3️⃣ Applies Even After Purchase
Already purchased? No worries! If you find a lower price within 30 days of your purchase, we’ll refund the difference, including the 10% reduction.

Example Calculation

Let’s say:

  • The item price at Hearth Depot: $1,000
  • The item price on a competitor’s site: $950

Difference: $1,000 - $950 = $50
Your Savings: $50 x 10% = $5
Your New Total: $950 - $5 = $945

Limitations of the 110% Best Price Guarantee

Our guarantee ensures fairness and applies under the following conditions:

  • Promotions such as rebates, buy one get one free, or other special offers are not eligible.
  • The item must be identical — same brand, model number, size, finish, and configuration — new, and covered by the full manufacturer’s warranty.
  • The item must be in stock on the competitor’s website.
  • The competitor must be an online retailer (physical retail locations are excluded).
  • We do not match prices from online marketplaces, discounters or auction websites (e.g. Amazon, eBay, Overstock, etc.).
  • The competitor must be an Authorized Dealer of the product and must adhere to manufacturer pricing agreements, including minimum advertised price (MAP) policies.
  • The guarantee includes the item price and shipping costs, but excludes sales tax.
  • Certain brands may be excluded from the guarantee. Please contact us for details.

How to Claim

1️⃣ Contact us at support@hearthdepot.com or call +1 (888) 398-1887.
2️⃣ Provide the competitor’s link and details of the lower price.

The Empire 18" Hydraulic Thermostat, White 18,000 Btu, Vent-Free Infrared Heater is Empire's 18 in white vent-free infrared (radiant) room heater: 18,000 BTU per hour on natural gas or propane (chosen when you order - the heater is built for one gas and is never converted), hydraulic thermostat that cycles the burner on at the full 18,000 BTU per hour and off again, a standing pilot you light with the piezo button, and an Oxygen Depletion Sensor pilot. Nothing in it needs electricity, so it heats through a power outage and, being vent-free, keeps 99.9 percent of the fuel's heat in the room. The ceramic plaques glow red-orange and radiate heat straight to you and the objects in the room, the way sunlight warms through a window.

Two variants in one listing: SR18TWNAT for natural gas and SR18TWLP for propane - the manual's SR-18TW-1. It hangs on the wall from four mounting screws or rests on the optional SRS18W floor stand, takes the SRB18TW automatic blower (the brochure also lists the SRB18W manual blower for this size), and is design-certified to ANSI Z21.11.2 by CSA as an unvented room heater. Rated over 10,000 BTU, it is not a bedroom or bathroom heater. Supplemental heat for a room, never the primary heat for a house.

This listing is part of the Empire Vent-Free Infrared Heater family - use the selector above to compare the sizes and control options.

Key Features

  • 18,000 BTU vent-free radiant heat: natural gas (SR18TWNAT) or propane (SR18TWLP), fixed at purchase; the hydraulic thermostat cycles the burner on at full input and off when the room is satisfied; it does not modulate.
  • Runs without electricity: standing pilot, piezo pushbutton igniter and a gas control that needs no power or batteries - heat through an outage, 99.9 percent of the fuel's heat kept in the room.
  • Oxygen Depletion Sensor pilot: the pilot light safety system shuts the heater off when the room runs short of fresh air; the heater is relit only after fresh air is provided.
  • Thermostat you set once: LO to HI covers roughly 55 F to 90 F at the thermostat bulb at the bottom of the casing (not the room temperature); turn the knob to PILOT when no heat is wanted, since at LO the burner still lights when the bulb drops to 55 F.
  • Wall or floor: four wall-mounting screws (and plastic anchors for sheet rock) come in the hardware package; the SRS18W floor stand is the optional way to put it on the floor.
  • Blower-ready: The SRB18TW automatic blower (the brochure also lists the SRB18W manual blower for this size) fits behind the top louver and plugs into a grounded three-prong receptacle; the heater itself keeps running without it.
  • Warranty: Empire's limited lifetime parts warranty with five-year labor on the combustion chamber and heat exchanger, five-year parts and labor on all other components (except thermostats) and one-year parts on thermostats, accessories and parts - original purchaser, qualified installer, proof of purchase.
  • Qualified installer: installation, gas piping and service by a qualified agency to the National Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z223.1 / NFPA 54 and local codes (Massachusetts: a licensed plumber or gas fitter, a flexible connector no longer than three feet, and unvented heaters are prohibited in bedrooms and bathrooms).

  • Not included: the SRS18W floor stand (sold with its own four screws), the SRB18TW blower

Installation & Planning

  • Where it may go: a wall or floor-stand position in a room of at least 900 cu ft; rated over 10,000 BTU per hour it is never installed in a bedroom or bathroom; Massachusetts prohibits unvented heaters in bedrooms and bathrooms; out of traffic and away from furniture and draperies; not in an alcove or closet; permitted in an aftermarket manufactured (mobile) home where codes allow.
  • Clearances: 6 in to each side wall, 0 in to the rear wall, 36 in to the ceiling, 36 in below any shelf or window sill, 2 in from the bottom of the heater to carpeting or tile, plus clearance around the air openings and for service.
  • Combustion and ventilation air: an unvented heater draws its air from the room: at least 50 cu ft of room volume per 1,000 BTU per hour of every appliance in it (900 cu ft for this heater alone), or two combustion-air openings sized per the National Fuel Gas Code; buildings of unusually tight construction need additional fresh air; expect about 1 oz of water vapor per 1,000 BTU of input per hour.
  • Mounting: on a solid wall drive the four #10 x 1 in screws, leave a 1/8 in gap under the heads and hang the heater on them; on sheet rock drill four 5/16 in holes for the plastic expansion anchors; the lower louver, reflector and upper louver come off (two screws each) and go back with the louver lip behind and the reflector lip in front of the heat shield; the SRS18W floor stand attaches to the bottom of the heater with its four screws.

  • Altitude: above 2,000 ft reduce the rating 4 percent per 1,000 ft; the manufacturer or gas company rules on orifice changes.
  • Blower: The SRB18TW automatic blower (the brochure also lists the SRB18W manual blower for this size): the heater comes off the wall (or stays on its floor stand) while the blower housing is fastened to the top heat shield with four screws and the cord set is led through the casing back; three-prong grounding plug into a properly grounded receptacle; unplugging the blower does not stop the heater.
  • Lighting and care: knob to OFF, wait 10 minutes, knob to PILOT, push in and press the piezo button until the pilot lights, hold about one minute, then counterclockwise to HI and set the thermostat; the gas control's interlock allows a relight about 60 seconds after a shut-off. Annual inspection and cleaning by the dealer before the heating season; no fans blowing at the heater, no scented candles or air fresheners while it runs.
  • Documents: the Empire installation instructions and owner's manual 39909-3-1124 (11/2024, the family manual that lists SR-18TW-1) and the Empire Heating Systems infrared and blue flame heaters brochure EHS-01032 are attached in the Documents tab.
  • Dealer service: warranty claims go through the installing dealer with the model number, serial number, type of gas and purchase verification; the dealer initiates warranted parts replacements, and parts after the warranty come through the dealer or a Master Parts Distributor.
